GREENSBORO — Ronald Hilliard Hege, 78, died on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, after several years of declining health.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 9, at Peace United Church of Christ, 2714 West Market Street, Greensboro. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Reformed Church Cemetery, Lexington, N.C.
Ron was born in Lexington, N.C., July 9, 1930, to the late Joe H. Hege, Sr. and Josephine Hilliard Hege. He was a member and former Deacon of Peace United Church of Christ. Mr. Hege was president of Hege-Price Associates, Inc. He had previously worked in sales at Wysong & Miles and C. E. Smith Co. Ron graduated from Oak Ridge Military Institute where he was a member of the NC state champions baseball team. He attended Appalachian and Guilford College. Ron was a devoted Republican. He loved to travel, especially with his grandchildren, and he spent many happy days at the beach with them.
Ron is survived by his wife, Lucille Ward Hege; son, Kevin Hege of Greensboro; daughters, Susan (Ken) Kirschner of Greensboro, and Deatra (Jay) Younce of Pinehurst and Blowing Rock; grandchildren, Ryan and Heather Wilcox. He is survived by brothers; twin, Donald H. Hege, Sr., Joe H. Hege, Jr., Jack Hege, all of Lexington, N.C., and Guy Hege of Jamestown, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Fay Stone.
Visitation will be held from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, at Hanes Lineberry, Sedgefield.
The family wishes to thank the nurses, therapists, and staff at Adams Farm Living & Rehab for his care, and a special thanks to his friend, Chuck Yates.
Memorials may be made to Peace United Church of Christ or to the charity of donor's choice.
