Ronald O. Nickels World War II Veteran Former Resident of Hayward "Nick" passed away May 5, 2011 in Manteca, CA. He was 87 years old. Ronald and Lorrayne lived in Hayward, Ca for 54 years. A lifelong resident of California. Ronald's wife Lorrayne Nickels of 59 years preceded him in death on Jan. 31, 2007. As well as his son Gary Nickels; and daughter Pamela Nickels. Surviving children, Karen Gomes of Glendale, Gerald Nickels of Manteca, Ronald G Nickels of Livermore, Daughter Kathy Tietjen of San Lorenzo, and Dale Nickels of Hayward; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was a World War II Veteran in the Normandy Campaign in 1944. Retired from Alameda Naval Air Facility after 35 years of service. Lifetime member of 461st Bombardment Group. Lifetime member of the Amer. Federation of Musicians #153 since 1949. He played with the Novelty Rangers 1940's and Borgsted Band in Sunol for decades. He loved to play and record musical numbers with his late parents, musicians (Lee & Lena) and friends. A lifelong loving husband and father. He will be missed by all who knew him. Family and friends are invited to the Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, Ca. Visitation, Thurs. May 12 at 4:30 -8:30 pm, Funeral Service, Fri. May 13, 10 a.m. Request Donations to the Veterans Memorial Fund, Chapel of the Chimes, 510- 471-3363.
