Ronald Vargo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 28, 2018.
Ronald Vargo

Ronald Vargo, 70, passed away unexpectedly Monday October 22 while playing the game he so passionately loved - golf. He was born October 18, 1948 in Toledo to George and Apolonia (Horvath) Vargo and graduated from Waite High School in 1966,

After graduation, Ron served in the United States Air Force. He went on to work at the GM Powertrain Plant for 36 years before his retirement in 2007.

Ron was a faith filled man and a longtime member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling to Florida and California to see his son and grandson. Ron stayed fit by working out 2 to 3 times a week but most of all his passion was golf. He golfed in various leagues, went every year to the Jamie Farr Marathon Classic, watched every televised golf tournament and he achieved a hole-in-one at Giant Oak Golf Course.

Ron's greatest love was his family and friends who he would do anything for.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sharonann Vargo, Georgeanne Vargo and Paulette Hartranft; and brother-in-law, Tom Hartranft. Ron is survived by his wife, Theresa Vargo; son, Nicholas Vargo; grandson, Bodhi Vargo; nieces, Nikki Hartranft, Shelly (Ty) Turner and Sarah Turner.

Family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home, 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Sunday from 4–8 p.m. where a scripture service and Military Funeral Honors will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday after 9 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.

So sorry to hear of Ron's passing. He was always a great guy growing up with him through our days in grade school and high school. We always had a lot of laughs together. I hadn't seen him since my Mom passed but I know he never changed and stayed the great guy I will always remember. Thoughts and prayers to his wife Sugar as I knew her growing up.
