Ronda Lane Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 30, 2023.
We regretfully announce the passing of Ronda Barnes Lane of Port Saint Lucie, FL on August 29, 2023. Ronda passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

Ronda was born on April 3, 1950 to Georgia and Richard Barnes in Mt. Vernon, IL. After graduating from Plantation High School in 1968, she went on to study criminal justice at Florida State University. She worked in real estate and property management throughout her years, finishing her career as an office manager for the Welleby Management Association in Sunrise, FL before retiring in 2018.

Ronda has two children with her first husband, Ned Dripps. Her daughter, Jennifer and son, Garrett both live in NC with their families. Ronda was a wonderful and loving mother who gave her all to her family. We will never be able to fill the space she left behind.

In 2016, by a turn of fate, she rekindled her relationship with high school sweetheart Stephen Lane, and they wed in 2017 under the oak tree at the Plantation Historical Museum. She and Stephen had six wonderful years together making up for lost time. Stephen adored her and helped carry her through her health challenges in the last several years. They were a blessing to each other.

Ronda had a passion for life. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and sister. She considered herself a native Floridian who loved the beach and collected seashells every opportunity she had. Growing up, she was a tomboy who loved fishing and other outside activities. She dedicated her life to her children, seeing them through their education and after school activities. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her husband and frequently visited Starbucks for a White Mocha Frappuccino. We will miss her greatly.

Ronda was preceded in death by Georgia and Richard Barnes (parents), Linda Plourde (sister), and Nolan Durham (grandson). She is survived by Stephen Lane (husband), Barbara Barnes-Buchanan (sister), Jennifer Durham (daughter), Garrett Dripps (son), Danielle Birg (niece), seventeen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, Harper Inpatient Unit at 1000 Ruhnke Street, Stuart Florida 34994 or online at https://www.treasurehealth.org/292/Donate.

We certainly had a lot of fun in high school but the priceless memories happened when our kids were little and the time spent together. I am so sorry for your loss Jennifer, Garrett, Stephen and family. Rest in peace Ronnie... you will be truly missed.

Barb, our memories go back to when we were 7 years old. The youngest in our families, we always looked up to our older sisters. I am grateful for the good memories we shared growing up and for the gift of a shared high school reunion in 2018. It was wonderful to see a joyous Rhonda, recently married to her high school sweetheart. May your memories sustain you now and through all your days. I shall always cherish our childhood memories of which Rhonda and Linda played a big part. Sending you love, my longtime friend.

I met Ronda in Chemistry class junior year of High School. We double dated (she and Stephen) until graduation. She was my maid of honor in1972. Even though life took me elsewhere, every time I came back to Florida for a visit and we got together, it was like no time had passed since we´d seen each other. So happy she and Stephen found their way back to each other. He was the love of her life. 55 years of friendship, always in my heart. Peace be with you my friend. You will be missed.

Ronda was a huge part of my childhood. Best friend to my mother with daughters playing softball together, my summers were filled with memories made on tbe softball fields and traveling with her and her children. She was always loving and funny as hell. I sure will miss her smile.

I shared much living time with Ronda. My home is part of Welleby and I initially met her contacting Welleby. We became fast, loving friends. She is, and will be, missed. My heartfelt condolences to all she leaves behind. She has left me with wonderful memories. Rest in peace, my friend.

What can I say about my dear friend. We always had a closeness as if we were sisters. Our long talks over Starbucks was some of the best conversations. We traveled with our kids for softball and laughed and screamed and I know we embarrassed our kids! I will miss her so much my sweet and loving friend. Thank you Stephen for giving her the happiness she deserved. Jen and Garrett remember you were her everything
