Rosa Acosta Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 14 to Oct. 15, 2015.
On October 6, 2015, Rosa Maria Acosta passed away peacefully at her home in San Jose, California of natural causes.

Raised in Managua, Nicaragua, Rosa came to the United States and alongside her husband, Edward, worked tirelessly and sacrificed greatly to create a better life for her family. Her children were her everything. Warm and cheerful, she would routinely greet everyone with an affectionate “Hello sweetie pie.” Rosa was a gifted cook and gardener, was funny and faithful, loved God, piano music, babies, birds, and See’s Sugar-Free Chocolate bars. Along with music and growing roses, Rosa’s other passions in retirement included movie watching; taking in all 4 hours of the Ten Commandments or Gone with the Wind in a single stretch. She loved the actor Victor Mature. She also loved those in her life as fiercely as they loved her. We are blessed to have known her.

She is survived by her children Doris Acosta of Tacoma, Washington, Ronald Acosta of Novato, California, Juanita Acosta of Pueblo, Colorado, and Linda Magnusson of San Jose, California; her grandchildren, Heather Crouter of Woodinville, Washington, Michael Collins of South Africa, Katie Collins of Gig Harbor, Washington, Kyle Acosta of Lone Tree, Colorado, and Asa Logan Huey of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and friend, Edward Acosta, and eldest son, Peter Acosta.

As Rosa wished, there will be only immediate family services. Remembrances can be made to Wildcare, 76 Albert Park Ln, San Rafael, CA 94901 (415) 456-7283.

Mom who cooked the best food from scratch for us every day all year and twice as much on the Holidays, because she loved us, who stood by us when we were sick and nursed us back to health.Mom you stood by Dad for a life time, always loving him never married again.
I still have an old shirt you sewed with your hands, when It was cold during winter, even though its been along time and I cant wear it, I still keep it because it reminds me of how you put things together and how much you loved us.
Mom I miss your big smile and loving heart, I love you Very Very Much,I think about You and Peter every day.

My dearest Tia. I know I had lost touch with you but you were always in my thoughts. I wished I had been able to see you before you left. I never stopped talking about Tio Eddy, you, Peter, Doris and Ronnie because I remember living in your home and enjoying the food you cooked, the fun we had as kids, and the love. Mill Valley has never left my heart. Some how I think you found a way to join Doris and I and I thank you for that. My prayers are with the family in this time of your departure and I'm glad you are finally with Tio Eddy. I will continue to have the two of you in my heart. Loving and missing you.

Mom,
I am grateful for your loving and courageous spirit.
for your integrity
for your love of music (humming to the music as I practiced the piano is a favorite memory)
for your love of nature (beaches flowers, hummingbirds/canaries, white stones, trees)
for your devotion and care--preparing incredible meals daily, chosing only the best fruits/veggies from the fruit stand, and meats from the butcher in San Francisco, making special foods for celebration (my favorites- your tamales, raisin bread dessert, flour tortillas--yum!!) and special foods as remedies for when we were sick--(steak rare) :-)
I am most grateful for your strong faith in God and thank you for demonstrating that faith throughout my life. You will be wherever we are--in spirit, strength, love, hope, and faith. Te amo Mama.

Oh dear loved one, I have been so blessed by your daughter, Rachel, to have shared in your joyful light on this earth. What a true delight you are! I see you dancing, flowers in your hair, and smiling with your beloved husband as you glide through your garden. May your family continue to feel the love that beams into their hearts as it touches all of us as well. Warm golden light of comfort blanket you all at this time of both healing and loss. ~Blessings Be

Rosa, I will always think of you with a smile, remembering how we used to banter back and forth. I think of you often, even at work when my photography class learns how to colorize black and white photos. My favorite one to work with, of course, is of beautiful you. I pray for your children and wish them peace and comfort.

Hey Grandma! Words can't express how much I miss you! I remember the Christmas all of us were together at your house when I was like nine. Me and Kyle were throwing your lemons at each other and Heather told on us. You told Heather, "Oh leave them alone, they are so sweet!" I remember our laughs. The good times. Our talks. And the knowledge you sent me forward with. I love you so much and I will never forget you. Even though I lost you in the world, I still have you ALWAYS everyday in my heart! Goodbye Grandma Rosa.
