Rosalind Nastasi Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 24 to Oct. 27, 2020.
Rosalind E. Oden Nastasi (Roz) of New Orleans passed away on October 21, 2020 at the age of 82 with her loving family beside her, as a result of Alzheimer's. Born in Hattiesburg, MS on November 16, 1937; she moved to New Orleans in 1949 when her father was transferred. Roz was a proud Warren Easton Eagle graduate, who after her first job started work at the Bank of New Orleans (BNO), where she met, dated, and later married Dave Nastasi in 1960. She was very creative and excelled at all she did including cooking, sewing, dancing, collecting antiques and above all at being a great wife and mom. Roz was quick to offer advice or help when needed. She had a wonderful personality and a great sense of humor. All who knew her loved her dearly. She loved animals, especially cats. Roz opened her heart and home to many rescues, and it was a lucky kitty who ended up as part of her 4-legged family. During her middle years Roz started and operated her own business, "Pampered Pets". That work led to many long-lasting friendships with the pets and their owners. Now our darling little eagle has flown away, .heaven bound. Her passing leaves a gaping hole in the hearts of those who loved her and whose lives will never be the same. She was preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth Foster (Maz), and her father Luther A. Foster (Paz). She is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years David T. Nastasi; her children Lauren Nastasi, and Kurt Nastasi (Jenny); her sisters Carolyn Tramell (Eddie), and Mary Rodosta (Don), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to thank Katie, Angel, Kaylee, Allison, and Andrea of Hospice Associates for their care and kindness both to Roz and to the rest of the family. Loved Roz - what an awesome woman! Always there for me in my most difficult times in my life as a young girl. She never met a stranger and would help anyone or any animals that came along! She was so crafty and she enjoyed that I loved her antiques. Always sharing her finding with me because she knew how much I loved old things! We spent many hours having conversations and she always had advice for me! I was Blessed to have her in my life! While she will be missed I prayed for her to be out of her pain! She is with her maker now watching over everyone she loved! Love and prayers for the family from Scott and I.

I met Roz after finding her business card for Pampered Pets at the vet’s office. I wanted to find caring people to look after my beloved cats when I traveled. Roz and Lauren came to my apartment to me us, and I knew they were the ones I was looking for. Roz called my cats "babies" and stood with me as we peered over my dryer to see Murphy, the scaredy-cat.

Lauren and I became close friends over the years, and I got to know her Mom and Dad. They were part family.

I am so glad I had a chance to see Roz and Dave again a few years ago when I visited New Orleans for a conference. Lauren took me to lunch where the four of us had a chance to catch up. Roz was as funny and caring as ever. She was a great person and will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Lauren and Dave. You have always been special to me. Take care.

When I think of Roz, nothing but great memories come to mind and it puts such a huge smile on my face! Growing up next to the Nastasi Family was such a wonderful part of my childhood and remaining friends through all these 55+ years is priceless! Even though losing Roz is devastating, I know she had a fabulous life and lived it to its fullest! She had a smile that would light up the world and I know she never met a person that didn't love HER! We will all miss Roz but she will always have a piece of our heart! God has gained a treasure!
