McGINNIS
ROSELLA
On Monday, January 7th, of Baldwin. Devoted wife of 63 years to James Elwood McGinnis; loving sister to Barbara "Dolly" Gardill and Norma (Donald) Boyette of Newport News, VA; beloved mother to Daniel (Deanne) McGinnis of Indian Wells, CA, Lynn (William) Miller of Grand Rapids, MI, John (Cyndi) McGinnis of Washington, PA, Bonnie (Remo) Vello of McMurray, Patrick (Mary) McGinnis of Castle Shannon, Norma McGinnis of Monroeville, Sharon (Walter) Young of Upper St. Clair and Noreen (Gary) Campbell of Harmony, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents Michael and Margaret Gardill and sisters Sr. Claretta Gardill OSF, Ann (Sylvester) Fess, Marie Gardill, Louise Gardill, Marion (William) Group, Stella Gardill and brother George (Cathryn) Gardill; adored by 23 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Rose was a lifelong "domestic engineer" as she called herself, where she excelled in providing a loving home for her large family. She was a culinary expert in the kitchen, talented seamstress with a distinct creative flair, and outside of the home she was a longtime member of the Baldwin Women's Club. Rose will always be remembered for her humorous and caring personality. She requested no viewing. A memorial service will be held for relatives and cherished friends at St. Wendelin's Church on Saturday, January 12th at 11 am. Because of her love of babies, in lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be sent to Pittsburgh Mercy Foundation, "Neonatal Intensive Care Unit", 1709 Blvd. of the Allies, Suite 203, Pgh., PA 15219. Arrangements by JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME, INC.

Grandma was the most amazing woman I've ever known. She was patient, kind and loving....the perfect role model for her grandchildren. She will greatly missed by so many, but the memories of her will continue to live as they are passed on by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

We will miss Maggie. She was always friendly when she visited in our home, or when we visited with her in Pittsburgh.

If anyone ever truly deserved the label Matriarch it was my Grandma:

ma·tri·arch (mtr-ärk) n.

1. A woman who rules a family, clan, or tribe.

2. A woman who dominates a group or an activity.

3. A highly respected woman who is a mother.

Rosella can easily be described as fulfilling all three descriptions of the word with flair, distinction and class.

She taught each and every one of us to strive for our best under every circumstance, encourage those around us with a guiding hand, and always believe in the best that people have to offer.

We'll miss you all greatly.

Grammy - Such a pillar of strength, wisdom and love. You were always there to guide me and hold my hand. I know that you always will. If I can grow to become a fraction of the amazing women that you were, I will consider myself blessed. Miss you and thinking of you always.
