Roselyn Reed Mills

Mrs. Roselyn Reed Mills, 82 of Canton, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at her home in Canton. Mrs. Mills was born on December 29, 1923 in Acworth, GA., to the late Dr. Reginald Glenn Reed, Sr. and late Bronzie Arnold Reed of Acworth. She lived in Acworth, Cartersville, Savannah and most recently Canton. She graduated from Acworth High School and Draughon's Business College. She worked in Atlanta and Brunswick before marrying. Roselyn married Ward Irwin (Pete) Winne and they had one child, Marianne, before Winne died in 1945. On June 21, 1946 she married Frank Coxe Mills, Jr. M ills adopted Marianne and the couple had two more children, Frank and John. Roselyn and Frank resided in Acworth and Cartersville, where they were active in the Church of the Ascension (Episcopal) and were charter members of the Cartersville Country Club. After moving to Savannah, they were members of St. John's Episcopal Church and the Savannah Golf Club. Roselyn wasan avid golfer and served as president of the Savannah Women's Golf Association. She was preceded in death by her brother, Glenn Reed, Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Marianne Mills Alfaro, Huntersville, NC; sons, Judge Frank C. Mills III, Canton and John C. Mills, Acworth; sisters, Ruth Hamner, Naples, FL, Gladys Ragland, Marietta; brother, Dr. Robert A. Reed, Blowing Rock, NC; grandchildren, Erin and Steven Alfaron Maria Ragsdale, Coleman Mills, five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 9:30 a.m., Saturday until service hours. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2006 from the Chapel of Collins Funeral Home with Rev. David LeGrande officiating. Interment: Liberty Hill Cemetery, Acworth.
