Rosemary Ann Flaska

HOLLY RIDGE, NC - Rosemary Flaska, 77, of Holly Ridge, passed away July 22, 2024, at home surrounded by the love and support of her family.

Born August 13, 1946 in Glens Falls, NY. She was the daughter of the late Dominick Sr. and Natalie Fuller Simione.

In 1968, she married Edward Flaska who we know welcomed her with open arms at the gates of Heaven.

Rosemary dedicated her life to caregiving, not only to her loved ones but to anyone in need. She spent her entire career giving back to the community in various roles and retired from New York State as a supervisor for multiple group homes for the mentally challenged. In her years of retirement, she continued to give back as a volunteer with neighbor to neighbor.

Beyond her role as a caregiver, Rosemary was a trailblazer for the blind community, tirelessly advocating for accessibility and equality; she fought tirelessly to break down barriers and ensure opportunities for all.

Rosemary was an incredible grandmother, mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend. She was also an avid shopper, bargain hunter and collector of all things. Rosemary truly loved spending time reading, always having a book recommendation for everyone.

She was the matriarch of the Simione Family; always making sure that everyone had a place to gather and celebrate all occasions. Rosemary was known for her open door to any and all family and friends; ensuring that holidays were always filled with warmth, laughter and lots of food. Rosemary was truly a pillar of strength to many.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband Ed, she was predeceased by her brothers Dominick A and Butch; and a sister Debra. The family also finds solace in knowing that she is now reunited with the many clients that she cared for throughout her life.

Survivors include her four children, Shelly Farrington and her husband, Mike, of South Carolina; Scott Flaska and his wife, Elizabeth, of Watervliet; Richard Flaska of Hudson Falls; Tricia Tague of Warrensburg; her six grandchildren, SSG W. Michael Farrington II and his wife, Hollis; SSG Jeremey Farrington and his wife, RaeLeigh; Korey Farrington and his wife, LeAnna; Alexander Tague; Jordan Sommers, and her husband Joshua; and Marah Tague; and her great-grandchildren Michael, Jacolby, Rose, Jasper, Korbyn, Kaizley, Lillianna, Ashten, Carson, Luca, Landon and Vivian.

She is also survived by her beloved siblings; Sandy, Cecilia (Mike), Patricia (Chris), Christina (Greg), Anne (Keith), Christopher, James (Shannon), Paul and Frank as well as so many special nieces, nephews and cousins who will all forever cherish her memory and carry on her legacy of compassion and strength.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made in Rosemary's name to The American Foundation for the Blind.

A burial ceremony and celebration of life will be held at a later date in Upstate New York.
