Coachella - We would like to announce the passing of our dear Rosie Delores Martinez, 91 of Coachella, CA on May 6, 2020 after a long community based life. Rosie was born June 11, 1928 to parents Juan and Mercedes Martinez in San Bernardino, CA. She grew up in the Imperial and Coachella Valley. She put herself through college and nursing school while working full-time and raising two children. She spent countless hours volunteering for her community, working at polling booths at election time as well as serving as a delegate during the convention. She worked as a nurse at Eisenhower Medical Center for over 30 years. Rosie also was a member at Thermal Senior Center, Indio Senior Center, and Coachella Senior Center, using her skill as an instructor for blood pressure and diabetes education. Rosie leaves her legacy to her two children, son Rick Valenzuela of La Quinta, CA; daughter Jessie Ann Chessnut of Hawaii, along with sisters Josephine Pizano of Las Vegas, NV; Sylvia Martinez of San Diego, CA; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers Robert, Juan, Richard, Zarco, Jackie and sisters Ruth and Chelo. Rosie was interred at Coachella Valley Cemetery.
