Roy Alyea, born on February 16, 1934, in Osgood, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024, in Carrollton, Texas, at the age of 90. Roy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Roy grew up in Greensburg, Indiana, and graduated from Greensburg High School in 1952. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business from Miami University in Ohio in May 1956. In October 1956, he enlisted in the Army and served his country in Korea. After being honorably discharged in September 1962, Roy began his professional career in business in Chicago, Illinois, where he met his wife. They started their family in Waukegan, Illinois. They later moved to Carrollton, Texas, in 1985.

He proudly worked for Abbott Laboratories from 1971 until his retirement in 1996, where he managed information systems for manufacturing in the diagnostics division in Irving, Texas. In his retirement, Roy enjoyed hobbies such as coin collecting, reading, and traveling. He also dedicated his time to volunteering with SCORE and at the DFW Airport.

Roy is survived by his wife, Karen Alyea; his oldest daughter, Sarah Alyea; his son, Brent Alyea, and his wife, Patricia Alyea; his beloved grandchildren, Brent Alyea II and Brooke Alyea; and his brother, Robert Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Roberta Alyea, and his sister, Joan Alyea Schlemmer.

In keeping with his generous spirit, Roy donated his body to UT Southwestern Medical School. A private family memorial and interment will take place in the future. Contributions in Roy's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
