MEYERS ROY CHARLES
Age 78, of Aleppo Township, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio and Washington, D.C., died peacefully at home on Saturday, Oct. 27, with his loving wife, Nancy, by his side. Beloved husband of Nancy (Jones) Hitechew; loving father of Robert Meyers, John Meyers (Margaret), Beth Meyers Hangeland (Jon), Paul Meyers (Blakely) and the late William Meyers; devoted stepfather of Gary Hitechew (MaryAnne), Carolyn Magnotti (Al), Susan Olsavsky (Brian), Alison Cole; and 18 grandchildren. Mr. Meyers studied at Cornell University; was a successful writer and editor of several small newspapers, political reporter and columnist for the Cleveland Press and Press Secretary to the late Senator Howard Metzenbaum. He was also a public relations agent for the late Senator Teddy Kennedy. Mr. Meyers enjoyed his role as a founding member of Grace Church in Edgeworth where a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. Family requests memorials be sent to Gateway Hospice, 9380 McKnight Road, 201 Arcadia Court, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Arrangements by COPELAND'S in Sewickley.

Mr. Roy Meyers was an amazing person. He took the time to mentor me during my short time in Washington, D.C. Roy set up an interview for me with the then Majority Leader Bob Dole and he took me to the National Press Club several times. I still have the news clip of the interview that Roy helped me write. I wish I stayed in touch with him after I left D.C. and often thought about him and his generosity and his kindness. He was a wonderful mentor to me when I was in my early 20s and will always remember him on our walk back from Bob Dole's office on Capitol Hill and how excited we both were about the interview. Thank you for making a positive impact on my life. God Bless you, Mr. Meyers.
