I just learned of Mr. Shotts passing from my friend and former KJAC co-worker Neal Barton. Neal didn't refer to Mr. Schotts as Roy, or Shotts, or as our former boss, just as Mr. Shotts - and that says everything. We all respected Mr. Shotts from the moment we walked in the door of KJAC, and he always treated his employees the same way. He was a pleasure to work with. Mr. and Mrs. Shotts always cared about the young people of the station, and provided so many of us with the opportunities we needed to launch careers.

Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Shotts for the opportunities you provided for me, and for the support you gave me during my time at KJAC. It will always be so greatly appreciated.

I worked for Roy at Channel 4 in the early 80's. He gave me my 1st promotion from production director to Promotion Manager/Station Advertising. He was a tough but fair boss, and I remember my time there with great fondness.

Roy did so much for me as my early "guiding light". He hired me at KTRM in 1953 and inspired me both professionally and in civic activities. Wonderful broadcaster and friend. Our love to Dot and children.

Mr. Shotts was the first GM I worked for during my television news career. Even though it was back in 1983, I remember how kind and caring he and Dot were during my two years there. They always threw a fun company Christmas party in their home and treated everyone like family. The shrimp was always fantastic, as was their hospitality. He was a blessing to this world. My condolences to Mrs. Shotts and all the family.

Mr Shotts was a great boss, and a great mentor. I always enjoyed the stories he told me about his early days in the business and the way he and Dot always seemed to light up when they saw each other around the station. He gave a lot of us broadcasters support, guidance and a fine example of what a TV executive could be and should be. I could never call him Roy,because a guy of his experience and class needed to be addressed as Mr. Shotts to me.
