Roy Daniel "Dan" Wicklund

Mr. Roy Daniel "Dan" Wicklund, 65, of Lake City, passed away on Friday, June 30th, 2017 after a sudden illness. He was born in Miami, Florida to the late Roy C. and Georgia 0. McDaniel Wicklund on October 26, 1951. Dan graduated from the University of Miami, Magna Cum Laude, in 1973 and received his CPA license the following year. He and his wife moved to Lake City in 1978, and he went on to work for the Columbia County School System, where he worked for 22 years. He retired as the Director of Finance with the school system in 2002. He had many passions, from running marathons to aviation. He, his wife, and his father built a Rutan Long-EZ Aircraft in their home garage. He also enjoyed motorcycles, especially taking his Harley-Davidson for a spin, and he loved his two corvettes, a 1963 hard top convertible and a 1980 T-top convertible. He and his wife looked forward to their camping adventures and had a weekly standing date, be it a picnic or out to eat. He was of the United Methodist Faith.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 44 years Monica Johns Wicklund of Lake City and daughters, Andrea Wicklund (Ian Pawn) and Natalie Wicklund both of Lake City. Brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Connie Jones of Lake City and nieces, Stephanie Jones of Lake City and Christen Williams (Wesley) of Gainesville, along with many extended family members and close friends.
Memorial services for Mr. Wicklund will be conducted on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 5 P.M. in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Myers Richards, Pastor of Bethel United Methodist Church officiating. Dress is casual. Please feel free to wear your aviation, Harley Davidson, Corvette, running, or tropical shirts. In lieu of flowers, Dan requested that donations be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 4843 S. US HWY 441, Lake City, FL, 32025.
