Russell Clifton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 7 to May 8, 2023.
Russell Clifton, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, died in his Duxbury home at the age of 59 after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Loving husband of Stephen Constantino. Devoted father to George Clifton-Constantino and Charles Clifton-Constantino. Son of Patsy Ziemer Zarcone of Kingston, MA and the late Michael Zarcone of Danbury, CT. Brother of Betty Pokrinchak of Middlebury, CT, Michael Zarcone Jr. of East Setauket, NY, Debbie Zarcone Rajaniemi of Woodstock, CT, Lynn Zarcone of Chardon, OH, Tracy Wackelin of Westbrook, CT, and Patina Gagne of Newburyport, MA. Russell also had numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews he loved dearly.

Russell was born in Pueblo, Colorado on December 25, 1963, and grew up in Danbury, Connecticut. He graduated from the University of Connecticut and went on to work at the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, where he helped develop the Wetlands Protection Act. He then worked at Jung Brannen Associates as an architect where he ran large projects in New York City. In recent years, Russell had a successful career as a Realtor with Coldwell Banker in Duxbury, where he was a consistent Top Producer and earned the International Sterling Award for top Coldwell Banker associates worldwide.

Russell's most important job was being the stay-at-home dad for George and Charlie. While he and Stephen raised their family in Duxbury, Russell became a fixture of the town and consistently gave back to the community. He served on the executive boards of the Chandler School PTA and the Friends of the Duxbury Free Library. He made and kept countless friends while volunteering at school events and cheering his boys on the sidelines and in the bleachers. Summers were spent at their house on the Cape in Barnstable Village, where the welcome mat was always out for friends and family to visit. In addition to his family, Russell leaves behind scores of friends in Duxbury, Barnstable and beyond who will miss his presence profoundly.

Russell was an artist, a designer, a lover of a good (or bad) chardonnay. He had a wicked sense of humor, a sharp wit, and would bend over backwards to help stranger or friend at a moment's notice. He lit up a party but also made you feel like the only one in the room when he spoke to you. Russell lived and departed his life surrounded by family and friends who were blessed to know and love him, and who will always remember his unforgettable personality and his giving heart.

All are invited to a Celebration of Life Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 10:30AM at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church in Duxbury, located at 842 Tremont Street, Route 3A, with a luncheon to follow at the Duxbury Bay Maritime School. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in Russell's name to the Dana-Farber Jimmy Fund. https://danafarber.jimmyfund.org/donate under the name Stephen Constantino.

Russell ---- Steve and the boys still miss you terribly. When your name comes up I remember clearly the last ALS One Gala you were able to attend and how strong you were just to be there for the start of the evening. So sorry we lost you so young.

Hey Russ, I love you and miss you, I wish I could give you a hug.

I´m so proud of you and want you to know that. You have amazing accomplishments going way back.

I remember telling you many years ago how proud I was of you for coming out and choosing a lifestyle that was not so well accepted by society at the time. You have by far the best marriage and relationship of anyone in the family.

And how fantastic that you two persevered with all of the challenges of getting the boys way back then. How proud you must be of how wonderful they both turned out.

I think back of how many places you guys lived and OMG how impeccable every one of them was decorated with your amazing talent and style.

I don´t know anyone who´s lived in as many places as you other than friends in the military or with the FAA. I love all of the artwork that you created and proudly displayed around your homes.

Pop would always brag about your amazing homes and I am pretty sure he slept in every piece of furniture you ever had.

And speaking of homes how you jumped into the real estate market and rose to the top.

I don´t know why, but every time I see the movie of the Grinch with Jim Carrey, and he yells out "somebody´s fabulous" I think of you. I don´t know if you mimic this at one point or it is just in my mind, but it certainly sounds like something you would say because it´s true you are fabulous.

I also want to thank you for your relentless efforts in caring for Mom, I know she appreciates it and is well settled in at such a great place.

I just wanted you to know I´m thinking about you, I miss you and love you

Your Brother,

Lynn

Where to start??? Russ, Rusty back the , was my first love, sharing almost 10 years of partnership, friendship, ups and downs. Our partnership ended, but our friendship, love, and respect for each other never did, and it never will. All my love and respect to his entire family

Russell ---- I had the pleasure to meet you at several charitable events your beloved Stephen brought you to at the Granite City Electric tables. You were a joy to meet and be with many times. Your family and he will miss you terribly Russell.. They loved you dearly and without reservation. After your diagnosis, the positive attitude you exhibited in spite of the news was beyond amazing and inspiring. Thank you being a part of my work life through Stephen and personal life with my wife Meghan each time we met. It was pretty easy to see why your husband fell in love with you.
God Bless you Russell.

My dear and wonderful friend, Rusty! My brother, Matthew texted me to confirm me about heartbreaking news... I am so deeply sad. I never never forget his beautiful smile on the way. He always came to visit to my house 88 Stratfield Road in Fairfield, Connecticut with Matthew way back in old days. My house was sold last 2021 of June.

He went my brother´s wedding in Maine with Matthew in 1993 of Summer. It was wonderful memories.

I now sorely miss you in Heaven. Love you, my dear pal.
