Russell Johnson Thomas, III

Russell Johnson Thomas III passed away peacefully on January 8, 2024 in Gainsville, Florida. Born on December 26, 1954, in Atlanta, Georgia, Russell's life journey touched the hearts of so many friends, family and strangers.

Russell was a man of many talents and passions. Throughout his life, he showcased his self taught musical gifts on the guitar, bringing joy to people wherever he played.

His love for the ocean was evident in his days spent as a skilled captain and sailor. From sailboats to yachts, he could handle them all.

Beyond his accomplishments, Russell's essence was found in his personal relationships. He cherished his daughter, Savannah Jane Thomas, who was the light of his life. Russell's sisters, Susan Thomas, Katherine Schmidt, Judi Broderick, and Elizabeth Allen, held a special place in his heart. Additionally, Russell was fortunate to have a steadfast and loyal friend, Jarid Neff, whose unwavering support brought solace and companionship during his journey, especilly at the end . He had countless other friends who loved and cared for him.

Russell's earthly departure was preceded by the passing of his dear mother, Bessie Brady Constantine, his father, Russell Johnson Thomas, Jr., and the love of his life, Pamela Kettlehut.
