Ruth Behunin Merrill, 85, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away on January 11, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born on January 9, 1939, in Traverse City, Michigan and attended St. Francis Catholic High School.

In 1959, Ruth became the wife of the late Buddy Merrill, guitarist on the Lawrence Welk Show, with whom she shared 25 years of marriage. Ruth later settled with her family in Palos Verdes Estates, CA, in 1970 after overcoming the historical Baldwin Hills Dam break in 1963 that washed her house away.

Ruth was a dedicated executive at the Wrigley Company for 15 years providing her with a fulfilling career enabling her to enjoy a wonderful retirement. Ruth also received a community award for her representing orphans in a court of law in Las Vegas as a helpful mediator.

Ruth's love for travel took her to various destinations around the world, including Africa, Europe and various memorable ship cruises. Ruth also found joy in dance classes, sand candle making and hosting many home parties for the Lawrence Welk musicians families.

Ruth will be remembered by her daughter, Cheryl Meril, also known as Cheryl Behunin, 64, and her half-sister, Sandy Graham, 76 and sister-in-law Nancy Graham, 86. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Merrill Behunin, Jr. (Buddy Merrill), 86, and her late daughter, Melody Lynn Behunin, 35.

Ruth Merrill's zest for life, dedication to her career and traveling adventures left behind a legacy of personal growth. Ruth's passion for exploring new places and embracing various hobbies brought joy to those around her. May she rest in peace.
