Ruth E.

Ruth E. Blankerts, age 88, of Toledo passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014, in Flower Hospital. She was born

December 6, 1925, to John and Nola Boldt in Toledo, where she lived her entire life. She was a 1943 graduate of DeVilbiss High School and attended Stautzenberger Business College. Her first job was in the export

department of the DeVilbiss Company, where she worked 5 years and developed her love of travel. During this time, she met and married Justice Blankerts in 1947. Two children were born of this union, Beth and John Blankerts. Ruth became a widow at an early age, and when both children were in college she got a job with

the Toledo Municipal Court, Probation Department, and retired from that position after 25 years in 2001. Ruth was a member of Augsburg

Lutheran Church for many years and later joined Grace Lutheran Church. She was a member of Toledo Chapter 341 of the O.E.S., and also

enjoyed dominoes with friends and traveling around the world.

The widow of Justice J. Blankerts, she was also

preceded in death by her sister, Donna Whiting. Surviving is her daughter, Beth A. Blankerts; son, John W. (Kimberly) Blankerts, and grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kelsey.

Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) on Wednesday, from 2-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held Thursday, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Toledo Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to Grace Lutheran Church, Toledo or the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be sent to the family at

Dear dad, family and friends, Ruth will be truley missed she has been a big part of our lives and will continue to stay in our thoughts, we will miss her at all the birthdays and holidays !
