Ruth Rowan, 94, of Galion, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 at Magnolia Terrace in Galion after an extended illness. Born Nov. 25, 1918 in Crawford County, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Jacob Pry and Bessie L. (Cole) Pry. She was preceded in death on June 12, 1981 by her husband, James Eugene Rowan whom she married on Nov. 25, 1939. A 1936 graduate of Leesville High School, Ruth was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Galion where she was a member of the Martha Circle. She worked at the former Consolidated Garment in Galion, Koons Restaurant in Galion and the Metallic in Galion and was a member of the Galion Women's Bowling Association for 50 years. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and very family oriented. She is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon and Web Hatton of Dublin and Susan and Don Blocker of Dover; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Steve Rowan of Galion and Mike and Mara Rowan of Hendersonville, Tn.; seven grandchildren, Jackie Kempf, John Cross, Rick Rowan, Jenny Allerding, Tracy Blocker, Susan Emerson and Maritza Armistead; 17 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jason, Joshua, Dorion, Rowan and Connor Kempf, Jessika and Brooke Clark, Matthew Eusey, David Balliett, James and Ashley Rowan, Jared Farmer, Bethany and Dirk Carron and William and Luke Emerson; four great-great-grandchildren, Jessica and Austin Balliett and Nolan and Peter Kempf and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Madaline Carol Rowan and six brothers, Willis, Floyd, Glenn, Carl, Ernest and Frank Pry. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Galion where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with Rev. Ash Welch and Deacon Roger Pry officiating. Burial will be in Crawford County Memory Gardens in Crestline. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul United Methodist Church, 746 Cherry Street, Galion, Ohio 44833.
