Ryan Petty Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 4, 2025.
Ryan Douglas Petty, 41, formerly of Fishers, Indiana, died unexpectedly on November 19, 2024, from injuries sustained in a single-car accident in the Dominican Republic. Born on November 29, 1982, to Mark Petty and Brenda (Petty) Hagen. Ryan grew up on the east side of Indianapolis with his mom and stepdad, Greg, and graduated from Warren Central High School in 2001. Throughout his childhood, Ryan enjoyed spending time on weekends and holidays with his dad and family in Anderson, Indiana.

After graduating high school, Ryan worked for his uncles at All-Pro Caulking where he was an apprentice and estimator. He then worked as a general manager of Quiznos's Sub Shop in Fishers; and while living in Fishers met his soulmate, Amanda Stamm. Ryan and Amanda were married on April 27, 2010, and shortly thereafter moved to the Dominican Republic where they lived their entire married life. Ryan, being a sports enthusiast from an early age, used his passion to become a successful promoter, bartender, and general manager for two sports bar restaurants located on Cabarete Beach for several years. US and Canadian persons living in the area were known to frequent the establishments just to chat with Ryan about sports and enjoy his rhetoric, infectious laugh, and smile.

Ryan was then able to join Amanda in her endeavors to help grow the property management business that she founded. They managed up to 30 properties in Cabarete taking care of renters, repairs, renovations and sales of vacation properties. Sadly, Amanda passed in March 2023 after a brief battle with cancer. Everyone who knew Ryan knew that he had a kind heart. He showed unwavering compassion and dedication when caring for Amanda during her illness. Both Ryan and Amanda were loved and respected members of the community where they lived for their honesty, integrity, and enthusiasm for life.

Ryan was an entrepreneur and worked hard, but his passions were sports and competition. He loved playing golf, collecting jerseys, attending sporting events, playing cards, and driving his side-by-side buggy.

Ryan was preceded in death by his father, Mark Petty and wife, Amanda Stamm Petty. Ryan is survived by his mother and stepfather, Brenda and Greg Hagen, brothers Justin, Evan, and Benjamin (Ashley) Hagen, nephew Fletcher Hagen and sister Holly Petty. Beloved grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive him along with his Indy Eastside friends and the countless friends he made while living in the Dominican Republic. Ryan's family and friends will miss him more than words can say.

A remembrance service will be held, but information is still pending as the family navigates the difficulties of losing a loved one abroad.

I will always remember Ryan being very helpful, respectful and friendly person. Always joking. Ryan was very helpful, Especially when my brother passed away in the Dominician. Ryan was one of my brother friends. Amanda and Ryan made sure we had a place to stay in and even went out for supper where we shared a few laughs during this difficult time. He will be missed and the same with Amanda they rest peacefully together. They will be missed. Staying in Cabarete will not be the same. Sending condolences to the family. Terri Savard-Maki

I was fortunate enough To have met both Amanda and Ryan when they moved to Cabarete and became fast friends. They were both very much loved and respected by everyone in our community. One of my favorite memories is Ryan's laugh. If I ran into him I could have him screaming laughing in a matter of seconds. He had a great sense of humor. This was a very big loss for all of Cabarete. He was very much loved.
