Sally Elizabeth Powers

On Sunday, August 10th, Sally Powers passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a bright legacy of creativity, laughter, and kindness. She is survived by her life companion, Josh Kroll; her parents, Patti and Terry Powers; and her sister, Sherri Powers.

Sally was a gifted hairstylist whose talent for color and precision cuts made her a sought-after professional in her field. Clients regularly traveled over an hour to sit in her chair, drawn not only by her skill but also by the care and intention she poured into her work.

Known for her childlike spirit and playful energy, Sally lit up the lives of those around her with laughter, joy, and kindness. She found magic in the everyday, ensuring there were bubbles, glitter, and champagne toasts for even the smallest of celebrations. She had an extraordinary eye for beauty, whether creating hand-crafted gifts filled with love or hunting for treasures during her favorite thrifting adventures, always thinking of what might delight those she loved.

Throughout her years, Sally found happiness at the family cottage on Houghton Lake, where she quickly took to water sports and cherished simple moments surrounded by fresh air, friends, and family. She also cherished time in the rural landscape of Michigan, where, alongside friends and her partner Josh, she relished simple pleasures such as meals freshly prepared from the garden and the joy of spotting new ducklings on the farm. She embraced creativity in every form, whether donning elaborate steampunk attire or turning heads with the best costumes at the Renaissance Festival, always bringing her signature flair and attention to detail to every gathering.

Although friends and family are left deeply saddened by a life seemingly ended too soon due to declining health, Sally will live on through the warmth, whimsy, and kind-hearted sparkle she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her. She lived life with one mission: to leave a little sparkle wherever she went.

In lieu of a memorial service, we invite you to honor Sally in a way she would have loved: Do something that brings you joy, whether it's popping a bottle of champagne, crafting something with your hands, thrifting for a hidden gem, or simply pausing to enjoy the sparkle in an ordinary moment. Celebrate life the way Sally did-boldly, playfully, and with love.
