SALVATORE DISTILO Obituary
SALVATORE D.
Of Shaler Twp., formerly of Morningside on Thursday, November 8, 2012, age 59. Beloved husband of Joanne M. Distilo; father of Joanne Shannon (Colum), Dominic Distilo and Maria N. Distilo; grandfather of soon to be "Baby Shannon"; son of Giovanna and the late Domenico Distilo; brother of Agostino Distilo and Maria Concetta Valotta; also survived by nieces and nephews. Salvatore was born and raised in Maierato, Italy and emigrated to the U.S. in 1969. He was the owner of Distilo Tailoring in Squirrel Hill since 1991. Friends received at McCABE BROS., INC., FUNERAL HOME, 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside on Saturday and Sunday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where Funeral will commence on Monday at 8:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. Raphael Church at 9:30 a.m.

Dear family members and friends of Mr. Salvatore Distilo,
Earlier this morning, when I was shopping for a new suite, I was thinking about how I would take it to Mr. Distilo later in the afternoon. I knew that he would be so nice to give me his honest opinion with a big smile and would tell me whether I should alter it or not. The only thing that I would have never imagined was learning about such sad piece of news. My wife and I had met him no more than seven or eight times but all that we remember is how kind and amiable he was. We would like to express out deepest sympathy for you and hope that you find peace very soon.

I drove two hours to see Sal anytime I needed a tailor. A true master of his craft and great man. Sal you will be missed.

I was very sad to learn today of Sal's death when I went to the business to have my tailoring done. My husband and I were customers of Sal's for many years and always enjoyed our little talks with him when we came in the business.

What a wonderful man. He has been my tailor for many years. Such a loss to all of us. He always had a smile on his face. I am glad I knew him.

So sorry we could not be there at this Sad & Difficult time for ye all :-( It was A Great Pleasure to have meet Salvatore at Colum & Joanna's Wedding, Salvatore was a . Nice, Kiind and a really Pleasant Person, a really Down to earth man.

We were so saddended to hear of Sal's passing.

I grew up in Pittsburgh and now live in the Washington DC area, yet Salvatore was the only tailor I ever used - and of all his customers, he knew exactly who I was whenever I walked in the door. He will be missed.

i am very sad to learn the passing of sal. my thoughts and prayers are with you during this most trying of times. as many, many people, my family and i have been long time customers of sals for years - since he first opened his location in sq. hill. not only was he talented in his profession, but he was also a wonderful compassionate caring person - who made everyone feel very special. I know that his family was everything to him. every time i went to his shop, it was like spending quiality time and visiting with a dear old friend.
sal will be dearly missed by family , friends and customers (who all considered him to be a dear freind and a wonderful person).
