Deb (and Jay) krabacher were friends of "Sam. Jr." (Bart) many years ago in Gunnison. Bart was (is) the sort of guy we didn't want to "lose touch" with. This obit -- Sam Sr. sounds like a HECKUVA GUY -- is the opportunity to say, hey, we were (& are) all on the planet together and we would like to express our condolences to Bart and the rest of the family.

There was a great man named Sam who on his head
Wore a pirate's bandana so very red.
He wore it for sailing and on a horseback ride.
While his family viewed his activities with pride.
We remember the wonderful Grand Lake nights.
We'd get together at houses and listen to Sam's poetry delights.
But what we'll miss the most about this kind guy
Is his smile and his warmth - he was never shy.
We know that Sam's gone to meet Pat in a wonderful place.
We'll miss his humor, congeniality and especially his warm embrace.

Love to the family,

Gerre and Art Shekin

The notice of your father's passing brought back many memories of your mother, Pat and your father living in the Hamlet. Denis and Ryan have special memories of the times they enjoyed swimming in the pool your father had built and John and Cathy remember Billy and some good fun. I particularly enjoyed the company of your mother and father who were always so gracious and your father so fun-loving. We still refer to 4638 as the "Hazelbart" house. Thanks for the memories Sam and Pat. The Buckleys
