Sam Ponzio, 92, passed away Monday July 1 at College Station Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday July 5 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Rev. Patrick Ebner officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday July 3 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m.

Sam was born in August 12, 1920 in Brazos County the son of Ben and Mary (Emola) Ponzio. He proudly served our country in World War II in the U. S. Army for the Military Police and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. He worked many years at International Furniture Factory until he retired in 1985. Sam was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the St. Anthony's Men's Club and lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. J. B. Gleissner No. 1834. Sam loved fishing, hunting, gardening and all Aggie sports.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mary Ponzio; wife, Angie Ponzio; brothers, Pat, Luke, Louis and Joe Ponzio; brothers-in-law, George Koudelka and Carlo Lister; sisters-in-law, Lena Lister, Laura Ponzio and Jessie Lee Ponzio.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel and Patti Ponzio, and Carl and Jenny Ponzio; four grandsons, Eric Ponzio, Thomas Ponzio, Cody Ponzio and Bradley Ponzio; brothers, Paul Ponzio and Johnny Ponzio; sister, Sally Lampo; sisters-in-law, Betty Ponzio, Charlotte Ponzio, Diana Ponzio, Rose Ponzio and Willie Ann Luza; brothers-in-law, Mike Lampo and Anton Luza; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of College Station Medical Center and Texas Home Health Hospice for their kindness and compassion for Sam.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Church Building Fund, 401 South Parker, Bryan, Texas 77803.

I knew Mr.Sam for a short period of time he lived down the hall from my mother at creastview retirement apartments.Mr.Sam was a sweet kind man soft spoken with not many words to say I hated when Mr.Sam moved away I missed seeing him every morning. He will be missed

We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Uncle Sam. He was a great man that always had a smile on his face. I know you all will miss him terribly. I loved looking at all the pictures from back in the day & learning that he was in the Military Police. (I never knew that) What great memories you all have. I wish we could be there for the funeral. Him and Daddy will probably be eating some Blue Bell.
