Samantha J. Dinger

Samantha Jo Guiddy Dinger, 32, of Center Township, gained her wings Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, surrounded by her close family and friends in Shadyside Hospital. Although she was not ready to leave this Earth, and we as a family were not prepared to let her go, she lost her battle with stage IV colon cancer. Sam was born Sept. 12, 1986, in Greensburg. She graduated from Greensburg Salem High School in 2005. She earned a bachelor's degree in hotel management from Robert Morris University in 2009. She last worked as an events specialist at the Courtyard Marriott in Moon until she was unable to continue because of her illness. Sam was a beautiful, incredibly intelligent, vibrant young woman. She loved life and was determined to live it. She had a never-ending sense of adventure, and even climbed into a volcano in Hawaii with her husband two weeks prior to her passing. Sam loved travelling, beaches and all furry creatures. She always thought of others before herself, and she had a smile for everyone she met, even when she wasn't feeling her best. Sam had a gentle soul and a kindred spirit. Samantha is survived by her best friend, her partner in crime, her husband of eight years, Christopher R. Dinger, at home; and her father, her protector and her mentor, Jeffrey A. Guiddy and his fiancee, Carol Ann Spino, who Sam considered her "mom," both of Greensburg. Also surviving are her brother, Jeremiah Guiddy and his longtime girlfriend, Leah Vottero, both of Greensburg; her paternal grandmother, Betty Guiddy, of Irwin; her maternal grandparents, Fred and Dorothy Carlson, of Greensburg; her in-laws, Terry and Virginia Dinger, of Aliquippa; her best friends, Taura Gaffney, of Latrobe, and Katie Wallace, of Greensburg; her "little sisters," Sydney, Anna and Emily Spino, all of Greensburg; her biological mother, Laura Carlson, of Greensburg; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, too many to list, all that love her immensely.
Per Sam's wishes, there will be no public viewing. It was Sam's request that she be donated to science. A memorial gathering/celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wayward Whiskers in her honor. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of the ICU in Shadyside (Lynn, RN, Amber, RN, and Betsy, RN, in particular) for their kindness and understanding during this most difficult time.
