Samia Saad Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 13, 2022.
The Saad and Habache family of California are deeply grieved to announce the sudden passing of their beloved wife, mother and sister Samia, on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 after a quick battle with a septic shock that lead to a fatal acute renal failure. Samia Habache Saad was born on June 17th 1943 in the Mediterranean City of Jaffa in Palestine; the first child of Ibrahim Habache(sh) and Salwa Haddad. Her mother and father fled Palestine during the turbulent years of the formation of the State of Israel and moved to Beirut, Lebanon, in 1948. Samia earlier education was in Collège Protestant Français school and enrolled in a British Evangelical School (L.E.S.G.) hence becoming a fluent trilingual. After high school Samia went for a two-year program at B.C.W. (Beirut College for Women. She started her career as admin with M.E.A. (Middle East Airlines) where she worked for many years. When her father died in 1973, Samia gladly and sacrificially took on the role of family guardian. Shortly after the Civil War erupted in Lebanon in 1975, Samia was instrumental in the safe flight of the family to Kuwait. There Samia secured an employment with Kuwait Financial Group (a subsidiary of Bank of America). In Kuwait, she used her blue Toyota Corolla for driving the family around, and really took on the maternal role making sure all were fed, educated, and safe. Samia met Wadie remotely through his cousin Hani in Kuwait, where they began corresponding while he was in the States. She shortly thereafter she moved to the States and got married. She became Wadie's beloved wife on September 29, 1979 in the City of Fremont in and the caring big-hearted stepmother of Mary and Lily. Soon after she settled down in California, she brought her siblings and mother to the US and applied for their naturalization. She began working for different companies in the silicone Valley like Verbatim, Quantum, and Cingular. Samia retired in 2008 and since then was engaging with her family both local and overseas. She was part of Fremont Community Church, the Bridges Community Church in Fremont and recently being part of Central Peninsula Church. She was quite the social butterfly, always making friends wherever she goes with that bright and infectious smile, and generous spirit for which she was famous. Her generous spirit and care for others has inspired all those who knew her. Her love for her family and siblings was very sacrificial and extraordinary. She joyfully cared for and served her sister Samira during her cancer treatment. Samia is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Wadie Saad; her daughters Mary Barrs and Lilli Cooper; her sisters, Randa Maroun, Nadia Khoury, Lina Habache and Rola Habache, her brother Jacob (Yacoub) Habache, her nieces: Grace Khoury Szabo, Mirna Maroun, Elizabeth Hendrickson, Sarah Habache, Angela Habache, Nephews: Michael Brooks, Elie Maroun, Dan Maroun, Allen Maroun.

I met Samia at Bridges Community Church. She and Wadi would sit behind my husband and I during church service. She loved to sing and worship the Lord! (Now she is doing that through all eternity!!) We soon struck up a friendship and would go out to lunch on a regular basis. She enjoyed trying new restaurants and returning to those she liked best. She even new many of the waitstaff by name! I'll always remember the time she introduced me to Sushi! We had such a fun time laughing as I was a bit hesitant in trying it, but was won over in the end. Our conversations always included what she was learning in Bible Study, the love she had for Wadi and how she could best care for him and a time of prayer. She was so very proud of her family and would show me pictures of them, but it was her great niece that really stole her heart! I miss you Samia, but will see you again heaven!

I will greatly miss my friend Samia. She was a bundle of joy to anyone who met her. Her sense of humor and love shown to others were priceless. She will be missed at our weekly Bible study. If I know nothing else, I know that Samia loved Jesus and her Wadie. She will be sorely missed, but now she's present with our Lord. Love you, Samia. Benita Hopkins
