I’m sitting here trying to think, still trying to take it all in, the profound sense of loss we all feel now that you have gone ahead of us. You had 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild and counting. But I feel like I am the luckiest grandchild however, because I had you with me the longest. No one ever had to question where they stood with you because you always “walked the walk”. And even though God has taken you back with him, you are in our thoughts and memories. That was probably your greatest gift, that through this difficult time, all we have to do is think for one nano-second and we start laughing at any of the infinite happy memories. I think it is our turn to show you what you taught all of us. It is our time to show you that all of your love, nurturing, and faith in us will help our family become closer yet. Even in your passing you never stopped teaching. You taught us to give generously so we can get the most out of not only our lives but our families lives, and those of future generations. We were all so blessed to have you with us for as long as we did, and I KNOW that you are with us still in so many other ways; but please have a little patience with us because we all need to learn how this next chapter goes in our lives, we are all kind of “winging it.” And we will do these things, because our teacher was second to no one. John Wayne can now stand aside because the real Sam Callis has arrived.

I love you grampa,

Dad,

Although we all knew what the outcome would be, it does not help our hearts from feeling the loss. You gave so much and expected so little in return, your love was always unconditional. I will always remember the lessons you taught and the laughter you brought. You are and will always be in my heart.

Love Always

Anne

Hey handsome!I miss you grandpa you were everything to me. I can't imagine life not going on without you I feel like my heart broke that night,I want you to know that I loved you very much and many times I considered you my father instead of a grandpa. You are the best grandfather a granddaughter could ask for. I want you to know that whatever I do from no one is to make you smile. I can still remember the times when you would sing songs to me in the truck on the way home from something or another. I only wish that you can see me graduate or dance with me at my wedding or I could hold your hand one last time, but God took you for a purpose and we may be upset but I love you and you are my HERO!!!Love, Amanda

Dad, It was difficult to see you have so much pain - your suffering has ended. I could never have let you go - but you slipped away. Mom held your hand and with a slight smile you were gone. You fought so hard to stay. Your last words were about Mom. I know how much you loved her, and Mom loved you completely. It just hurts too much to say more.

Your daughter,

Sandy

grampa, you were superman to me and just like the cartoon you found your kryptonite i have never been so devestated in my life the night you passed and my life will never be the same. we had many laughs over the years and i look back on those laughs and cry now. you affected so many people in your life and i aspire to live my life the way you lived yours. I struggle to find a reason why god selected you at this time maybe he needed an electrician well he got the best but wait until he gets the bill. Even though I had 24 years with you I still feel like i was robbed and still have so much i could have learned from you. May you rest in peace.

Your loving grandson
