Samuel Neil Haislop, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 7, 2023, in Rancho Cucamonga, California. He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on July 7, 1944 to Edward George II and Ruby Ann Haislop, (née Slater).

Samuel, known as Neil, possessed an empathetic and positive nature that endeared him to all who knew him. He was a gentle, kind and nurturing man who chose to be happy.

Neil attended Parkersburg High School before attending West Virginia University at Morgantown.

Neil made significant contributions to the world of media. He was a newscaster at WXL radio before becoming a renowned country music journalist working for Watermark's American Country Countdown and United Stations Radio Networks. He authored the book Billboard Hitmakers: Giants of Country Music, and interviewed artists for Country Fever magazine.

Neil creatively expressed his thoughts and feelings through his poetry. He enjoyed walking his dog Sandy and playing golf. He dreamed of going home to Parkersburg, West Virginia.

Neil is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, son Donald Morrison, daughter Keely, her husband, Albert Solorio, granddaughter Samarah, and her partner, Brandon Roberts, as well as great-granddaughter Dorian Solorio Roberts. Neil will be dearly missed by his granddaughter Theodora Solorio and grandsons Ian and AJ Solorio. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Ann Cornelia Russell, brother, Thomas David Haislop, nieces, Elizabeth Simmons, Lindsey Haislop, nephews, William and Edward Parrish, Thomas, Edward and Victor Haislop and Tadd Haislop. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William Slater Haislop and Major Edward George Haislop III.

May God rest his beautiful, sweet soul in eternal peace.
