Samuel Pack Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 23, 2025.
Samuel Michael Pack, 75, of Fresno, California, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, March 17th, 2025, at Fresno Community Hospital. Even as his body grew weary, his sharp mind, quick wit, and sense of humor never faded. In his final moments, he held hands with his family, smiling and sharing a joke-just as he always had.

A celebration of his life will take place at Clovis Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 12th, 2025, with the viewing at 8am, funeral at 9am, and burial at 10am. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Floyd and Peggy Pack. He is survived by his sister Sharon Bailey; brother Jay Pack; nieces and nephews Jason and Stephanie Hagen, Jessica Bailey, Garrett and Jackie Pack, Janna Pack-Keough; and grand-nieces and nephews Harlee Pack-Keough, Addison and Landon Paradiso, and Blakely Pack.

Born in San Antonio, Texas, on July 27th, 1949, he went by his middle name "Mike" and was affectionately known as "Uncle Mike." Uncle Mike was a uniquely accomplished man with many talents and deep passions. He earned a Master's Degree in Education from Fresno Pacific University and dedicated 19 years to teaching sixth grade at Vinland Elementary School in Fresno. There, he became a beloved figure among students who cherished his engaging spirit and unwavering encouragement. He was a violin virtuoso who practiced daily-up until he was too weak to hold the instrument in his hands. He was a devoted bodybuilder who trained for hours each day-up until the stairmaster was beyond his reach. His commitment to excellence-whether in music, fitness, or education-remains an enduring inspiration to those who knew him.

Despite living much of his life alone, Mike never seemed lonely. He carried an abundance of joy within him and shared it freely when he stepped beyond the comfort of his home to be with family. His presence radiated warmth and happiness. In a word, he was fun. He taught those around him the beauty of authenticity-to be yourself without hesitation or apology. He loved deeply. And we could only love him in return.

We knew Mike when we were all young, during the late 1970’s. He was always happy and brought sunshine to those around him. We moved away and lost touch with him, but all of our memories of him bring joy and a smile to our face.

We knew Mike for just a short time, but we learned to love him in that short time. We are glad he got to spend some time in his beloved home before passing on to his everlasting home. See you in heaven Mike! Larry and Joan Goss

Mike was the best hospital roommate ever. Greg had the privilege of spending 3 weeks with Mike as an amazing and uplifting roommate at Fresno Community hospital. We had a great time playing games, joking and participating in some spiritual worship and discussions together. We look forward to meeting him again on the other side with our better bodies in tact.
