ZAMIAS
SAMUEL C.
57, of Johnstown, died September 14, 2013 in Pittsburgh. He was born February 2, 1956 in Johnstown. Son of George D. and Marianna (Dallee) Zamias. He is survived by his parents; loving wife, Kathleen (Buettner); children, Christopher, Erik, Samantha, and Michael; brothers, Damian married to Kathryn (Horty) of Pittsburgh, Stephen and Mary Ann (Lambrinos), George D., Jr.; sisters-in-law, Kimberly married to Craig Snopko and Melissa married to Ronald Blandford; brothers-in -law, Eric Buettner married to Danielle (Lambert) and David Buettner; also many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends. Sam was a 1975 graduate of Bishop McCort High School and attended St. Francis University and the University of Arizona. He was involved in the community and loved coaching. Everything from baseball, golf, tennis and soccer, he loved teaching and helping kids. He shared with them family values and many times held practices at his home, providing them with food and drinks. He was a leader and loved adventure. He also loved to fish and travel by RV with his family. He incorporated the business and family together, sharing with them his love of life. Sam was a loving son, husband, father, and brother and will be sadly missed. As chairman of Zamias Services Inc., he began his illustrious career in commercial development in 1976. He was involved in all aspects of the family's business. The projects he worked on and developed helped to create more than 50,000 jobs in Pennsylvania alone. As co-founder of Zamias Services Inc., he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of millions of square feet of retail projects throughout the United States. From his hometown of Johnstown, PA, he led his company as president and CEO from 2001 to 2012. Samuel built a company that put the best interest of his employees and clients first. Samuel treated all that worked with him as family. Friends received from 2-8 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2013 at FRANK DUCA FUNERAL HOME, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown, PA 15905. My deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Zamias family. I met Sam at St. Francis College in 1975, and had not seen him since 1976. I would think of him with the fondest of memories from time to time since then. He was a dear friend during my time in St Francis, and my life is better having known him. With deep sadness, Al McKinney

Unfortunately lost touch with Sam some time ago...he came up in conversation and somebody suggested I look him up on FB...now almost sorry I did. I am destroyed at knowing he is gone...what a life force, a vibrant, positive guy...Mom, Dad, Steve, Kathy and everyone else my deepest consolences. I know how sad you all must be...because, I too, loved Sammy. Peace. J.acK. Kirkwood

My thoughts and prayers are with the Zamias family. It's been many years since I've seen Sam but the memory of being with him seems like yesterday. Sam was a beautiful person who taught me a lot. Rest in peace my friend.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time. I lived in Westmont for several years and became friends with Sam as we graduated the same year.
