Sandra Viers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 22, 2025.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother & grandmother, Sandra Kay Viers, who left us peacefully on November, 3, 2024 at the age of 73. Sandy lived a full and interesting life, but found her calling most as a devoted mother and grandmother whose love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren knew no bounds. She dedicated her life to caring for and supporting everyone around her.

Born on December 14, 1950, Sandy, or "Grandma Sandy," as she was more affectionately known, grew up in Texas. She often shared stories of her childhood growing up in the Valley. Grandma Sandy was someone who lived to help others. She had a successful career working as a Unit Clerk at Blank Childrens Hospital and was quite proud of her job. Although, she happily retired in 2020 to spend more time helping with her new great grandchildren.

Grandma Sandy's legacy will live on through her grandchildren, Ashley Bruce (John), Matthew Gogerty (Kelsey), Tyler Brooks, Alyssa Henderson, as well as her four great grandchildren, Hudson, Willow, Autumn and Weston, who were her pride and joy. She instilled in them the importance of family, kindness, and selflessness.

In addition to her grandchildren, Sandy is survived by her children, Lorene Gogerty & Bobbie Arey; and sister & brother, Lahona Wagner & Don Sanders, who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bobbie McLaughlin, and father Walter Sanders. A celebration of her life will be an open house held on April 5, 2025 at 5632 NE 3rd Street, Des Moines, Iowa, 50313 from 1pm - 3pm. All are welcome.

Grandma Sandy will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, a cherished friend, and an inspiring soul who touched the lives of all who knew her.
