I met Sandy in the fall of 1989, I was 9 years old. The previous summer I lost my father. I was a new student in a new school absolutely grief stricken unable to articulate my emotions. We met once a week for two years...she was the first person to help me break through and attempt to articulate what I felt.

I would run into her for several years after we stopped meeting in school. She always made me feel recognized. I will always remember her for her support and care.
