Sara Sanderson Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Sara Karen Louise Sanderson of Thermal Ca. She passed away on June 8, 2017 at the age of 29. Sara attended local schools including Coachella Valley and La Quinta High Schools where she was active in sports, excelling in softball. Her life was changed drastically on April 29, 2004 when she became a victim of domestic violence which left her to live the remainder of her life confined to a wheelchair.. Sara became a gifted writer and published a book titled "Im still a fairy princess inside". Sara is survived by her mother, Ramona Lokken, father, Gary Lokken, brother, Michael Sanderson, aunts Julie Fulton, Mary Sherrod, Barbara Heintz, Karen Eto and uncles Herman Heintz Jr (Ada Heintz) David Fulton, Scott Sherrod, and Juan Valle Jr. Also mourning her is care-giver/ long time friend Isabel Cortez who spent countless hours lovingly caring for Sara during the last 14 years of her life. Welcoming her to heaven is her loving grandmother, Mary Arce.

Sara, I just wish i could see you one more time, I just wasn't ready and there's still so much we were supposed to do, i just want to put on "Rocky Horror" again and sing our hearts out and annoy the crap out of everyone else in the house. Those were good times. I'll cherish them as long as I'm alive, I'll never forget how much love came pouring out of you, everyday of your life. With so many reasons to be angry and upset you've never let your spirit be darkened with all the bad, instead you were a ray of sunshine that filled my heart with happiness and I will miss you so much. I wish there was some way to tell you how much your friendship means to me. Sara, you have redefined the word "friend" , you've shown me nothing but love, smiles, and encouragement, and most of all you've shown me how to love others unconditionally and how to love myself when I'm convinced there's no hope left. Its so selfish of me to wish you were still here and im sorry but i do it everyday... Thank you for being you, and for letting me be me. I will never forget you...You will forever be a part of who i am. I Love you Sara Karen Louise- Rest in peace.

Sara was a great friend. Her abilitity to recover and survive so long after experiencing such a horrific act of violence is a daily inspiration to me. In all the time I've known her since the accident, I never heard her complain once. I am sad to see her go but happy to know she no longing suffering. RIP Sara. You will always be remembered here.

Even with all the limitations and challenges you faced you were fearless from the get go. So fearless one, now you're in charge. Just be easy on God...he already has a full plate. Ramona and Gary your care and love gave Sara more time than was expected. Let that be a comfort for you both.
