Sarah Hall Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 15, 2024.
Sarah Michelle (King) Hall (1987 - 2024)

With profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Sarah Michelle (King) Hall, 37, of Columbia, MD on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, due to a pulmonary embolism.

Sarah was born in Eugene, Oregon on August 19, 1987 to Preston and Cherylle King. She lived in Eugene until 1993, when, after the loss of her father, the family relocated to Columbia, MD.

Sarah grew up in Columbia, attending Talbott Springs Elementary School, Oakland Mills Middle School and Long Reach High School. Upon graduation, Sarah attended Morgan State University, studying English Language and Literature.

A dedicated public servant, Sarah worked as a 911 Emergency Dispatcher for the Howard County Police Department while earning her Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of Maryland Global Campus. She then followed her passion for teaching and service, becoming an English teacher at Oakland Mills High School, where she cherished her role as the Poms coach.

Sarah married her true soul mate, Jarvis Hall, on July 5, 2013, in Columbia. Their greatest joy arrived on May 16, 2017, when they welcomed their beautiful daughter, Tamera Paige Hall.

Sarah's vibrant spirit and dedication to her family, friends, students, and community will be deeply missed.

Sarah is preceded in death by her father, Preston King; and grandparents James and Sarah King, and Herald and Gloria Adams.

Sarah is survived by her devoted husband, Jarvis Hall; her beloved daughter, Tamera Hall; her mother, Cherylle King; and her sister, Corinn King, all of Columbia, MD. Her memory will be cherished by many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, October 18 at 11 a.m. at Celebration Church in Columbia, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Oakland Mills High School Food Pantry. Contributions can be made via their website (https://omhs.hcpss.org/student-services/food-pantry).

She was the teacher I would come to when I had problems, with schoolwork or family stuff. She was genuinely my second mom when I couldn't have my first one. She was so sweet and so caring. She has touched so many of our souls. I think about her everyday. I love you Ms Hall. Missing you lots

Ms. Hall was my son's 10th grade English teacher this year and she was his favorite teacher. I had the pleasure of meeting her once for only a few minutes during back to school night and even in that short time I could tell she was an amazing person. My condolences to her family, friends, and students. I know her beautiful spirit will live on in everyone who was blessed to know her.

Mrs. Hall was a wonderful teacher in every sense of the word. I had her my sophomore year for English, and before her class, I lacked a lot of confidence in my writing. It wasn't until Mrs. Hall emailed me detailing how much she loved my writing, that I felt proud of something I had written. She encouraged me to take a creative writing class, which, I cannot thank her enough for. I'm a senior now, and I would go and speak to Mrs. Hall constantly, I had just told her all my good college news and she told me how proud she was, and hearing that from her meant the world. She was an amazing, kind woman, and I wish her family nothing but the best in these trying times.

As my high school teacher, she was an absolute joy and light throughout the day. She was always so warm and welcoming for students. She was a true educator and an amazing human being.

I met Sarah for the first time with as a 9-1-1 Emergency Dispatcher for Howard County, Maryland. I loved her from the first time that we met. She was gracious and brave enough to teach my son how to drive after my nerves couldn´t handle it anymore. :-) I had the extreme privilege and honor of joining Jarvis and Sara in matrimony, it was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. Her heart, spirit and her intelligence, that whether she knew it or not, inspired me. I pray that God gives and continues to give Jarvis, Tamara, Ms. Cherylle and Corinneand the whole King/Hall family, his peace comfort and understanding. And So It Is. I love you Sarah. Rita Francis

I usually find English classes to be boring, and not really interactive. But Mrs. Halls class was something I looked forward to every day, just because of how great of a person she was. I can still remember every book we read, every lesson she taught, and how she didn´t just treat us like students, she treated us like friends. Sometimes she would spend the whole class just talking to us, and she´d come back to things we had said to see if anything more happened, which showed just how much she really cared.

She was a staple in not only our school, but our community, and we will always remember the impact she made.

Rest In Peace Mrs.Hall, you were one of the greatest people I´ve ever known

Miss Hall, you had such an impact on me. From being my first English teacher to ever help me get an A in English and correctly guiding me my freshman year, to helping me with my college applications and even writing me a recommendation letter. I hope you know how much I love u and how dearly you will be missed. Thank you for everything. I love you <3

Sarah, since the day I met you, you´ve always been a beam of light. I will always cherish the times we spent together and will always laugh about the "chickens that chased you" from Kristah´s house! Thank you for sharing your best friend with me. We will keep your memory alive and I will always remind Tamara how much you love her. We will miss you dearly. My love to your mom, Corrin, Jarvis and Tamara.

Thank you Sarah for choosing me as your Godmother. I remember the day you arrived so beautiful. One of my fondest memories is when you were around 3 or 4 and you gave me a valentine that day i felt so loved, it was the only valentine i received. On your wedding day you were the most beautiful bride i had ever seen. Thank you for sharing your life's moments with me, your marriage, motherhood, and graduations. I will miss your kind and special spirit.
Love you SO Much!

Sarah was always my biggest champion. When we first started teaching together, our love for our students and each other bonded us so much so we were called the Sarahs. My favorite memory was when she told me that I sounded like her mother when I didn´t understand something about her generation. I then became her "school mother" and she my "school daughter." I miss you so much my school daughter. You were always there for me and helped me in more ways than you will ever imagine. I hope you and your dad are looking after your family and forever being their angels. Rest in peace my forever friend, colleague and daughter.
