Dusty was born in Kalispell, MT. She was one of two children born to Victor and Nellie (Spicer) Gardner. As a child Dusty moved around a lot following her step father's work and they lived in Montana, Washington, Oregon and California. She attended Santa Cruz High School and graduated with the Class of 1952.
She met her husband, Thomas Harman, while at a party in Santa Cruz, They soon began dating d they were married on November 22, 1952 in Los Angeles, CA. They made their home in Santa Cruz until 1982 when they divorced. In 1987 she moved to Aloha, OR to be closer to her daughter and then to Forest Grove in 2007.
Dusty was a loving and devoted mother to her four children. She also worked as a manager/coach at the Surf-n-Bowl in Santa Cruz. When she moved to Oregon she began working at Oregon Bolt Inc. and retired in 2002 when her granddaughter was born.
She enjoyed bowling and competed in bowling leagues throughout the nation. She was also a great cook, an animal lover and crossword puzzles. She was close to her grandchildren.
Dusty is preceded in death by her parents Victor and Nellie, her step-father; Robert McQueen, a son; Michael, and two brothers; Ronald Gardner and Edward McQueen.
Survivors include her children and their spouses; Debbie Austin and her companion, Charlie Howard both of Forest Grove, Tom and Niki Harman of Santa Cruz, Jim and Jennifer Harman of Diamond Springs, CO, four half siblings and their spouses; David and Jean McQueen of Fernwood, ID, Margaret Preciado of Louisville, KY, John McQueen of ID, and Frank McQueen of CA, five grandchildren; Cody, Lloyd, Virlyene, Allison and William Jr., and two great grandchildren; Lucia and Clyde.
