Scott Brown Obituary

Published by The Daily Item from Sep. 18 to Sep. 19, 2007.
SUNBURY -- Scott B. Brown, 50, of 155 Fairview Ave., went peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was surrounded by his wife and children.
He was born April 2, 1957, in Sunbury, a son of the late Paul and Betty Brown. In 1976, he married the former Diane Young, who survives.
Scott was a 1976 graduate of Shikellamy High School.
He was employed at ButterKrust Bakery and especially enjoyed his Lewistown route, where he made many lifelong friends. He retired from ButterKrust in June 2006.
Scott was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. Through his five years of illness, he had a wonderful, unselfish, and positive attitude. He constantly amazed his doctors, family and friends with his strength. His only concern was for his wife and children.
Scott had a great love of the outdoors. He loved camping and fishing with his family and many close friends. One of his greatest joys in life was teaching his children and many of his friends' children to fish. What a fisherman he was!
Scott was known by many for his special campfire breakfasts and "trout" dinners. One of his favorite camping sites was Ole Bull State Park, where he volunteered his time each year at the annual children's fishing derby. He also enjoyed summer camping trips with his family and friends on the beach in South Carolina and hiking and exploring the mountains and trout streams of Maine and the western states.
Scott enjoyed life to the end. He was able to spend a winter month with his son, daughter-in-law and grandson in South Carolina. He was also able to spend two months during the spring camping and fishing at Ole Bull with his family and friends, a June two-week camping adventure to Maine with his wife, and his last camping trip to the beach in August with 27 family members and friends.
His only wish that wasn't fulfilled was to take his only grandchild, 9-month-old Ethan Scott, fishing. Scott will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jason and Shannon Brown of Florence, S.C., and Andrew Brown, at home; one daughter, Jessica Brown, at home; one grandson, Ethan Scott Brown; one brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Patti Brown of Northumberland; one sister-in-law, Lisa Brown of Shamokin; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Roger B. Brown.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Bible Fellowship Church, Sunbury, where the funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Charles Cole officiating.
Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
In memory of Scott and in honor of a very special doctor, Dr. Lisa Christopher at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Md., in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Johns Hopkins Research Center, 1 Charles Center, Baltimore, MD 21201.
Funeral arrangements are by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.

Scott was a person that was a friend to all...always had a smile and a good word for everyone he talked to. He surrounded himself with a wonderful family and it is a pleasure to know each of them. Tomorrow we welcome his "little girl" into our family and we're all excited and very happy that Jeremy found such a sweetheart to be his wife. Scott can't be with us, but what a legacy he leaves with his children and grandchildren.

Dear Diane and Family,

We both know how fast time evaporates, but the memories of our husbands will never fade. We may make new friends, but I believe we only have one true love in a life time. Scott was a really special man, and will always be remembered that way.

Stay strong in the Lord.

Love, Joy

To Jessica and the Brown Family,
Sending love and prayers on this first anniversary of Scott's passing. He was such a wondeful father and person and he is deeply missed by all. His great spirit and humorous personality is what I will remember most from spending those few occasions with him and his family. I am a close friend of Jessica and can surely say that he passed on his wonderful traits and they can be seen every single day in her. She has a great loving spirit and a lot of that came from having such a wonderful and loving father. Again, my thoughts and prayers are with you all on this day and always.

What is a life well lived? Having a woman who loves you, children that respect you, friends that enjoy you, and knowing God is your strength. Scott was taken way too soon, way too young but accomplished in 50 years what most never come close with many more years. Heaven is rejoicing his eternal life; we will love and remember him until we meet again.

Diane and family,
My sorrow's for you at this time. There are no good words that will help you through this, but knowing how loved Scott was and how blessed you all were to have him in your lifes can help you with the healing at this time.
I went to school with Scott and even though we were only classmates, I can honestly say, here was a boy, a man who was a kind, compassionate and decent guy.
It's always so hard when those who we love and love being with get to move on in there journey leaving us behind. Be ever so grateful for what you had with Scott and what you gave this great guy. Yes, he will be missed and one day, you all will unite with him again. Stay strong and remember all the great times you all shared together as you work through these days.
Sincerely,
A fellow classmate; Judy (Clark) Whitenight and husband Steve.
