Scott Guthrie

Dec. 18, 1952 - Jul. 13, 2014 Scott was born in Mobile, Alabama and served for a number of years in the Navy beginning in 1973. In his younger years, he had an opportunity to see much of the world, as he worked for a time in Saudi Arabia and all across the United States. Scott was proud of his involvement and achievements with AA and Al-Anon for the past 15 years. Sadly, Scott lost his valiant battle with cancer on July 13, 2014. He is now in the loving, peaceful embrace of Jesus Christ. Scott is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lois Guthrie of Birmingham, Alabama. He is survived by his brother Michael Guthrie and his wife Georgianna of The Woodlands, Texas, Mitchel Guthrie of Birmingham, Alabama, and his sister Michelle Guthrie of Georgia, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Scott's memorial service will be at 4pm on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, and there will be a catered reception at the funeral home honoring Scott, immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the cancer research fund of your choice.
