Sean F. Byrne of Rehoboth, formerly of Newton passed away October 26, 2023, at the age of 78.

Born in Newton to the late William and Kathleen (O'Connor) Byrne, he was a graduate of Newton South High School.

Beloved husband of the late Cheryl (White) who predeceased him April 2023. He is survived by his sisters Maureen Byrne, Kathleen Elias and her husband George, and Sheila Merrick and her husband Tom. He was predeceased by siblings William P. Byrne and Ann Adams.

He is also survived by Cheryl's three children. Lisa Colwell-Rapoza, Kerri Symington, and Craig Colwell and grandchildren Sienna, Raquel, Max and Porter Symington as well as many nieces and nephews.

An avid golfer, Sean was a member of the Foxboro Country Club. He loved spending time reading and doing puzzles. He loved the holidays and family gatherings. Sean will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and love for his family. He greeted patrons with a smile as a longtime bartender at the Horse 'N Carriage in Norfolk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 10:30AM in Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Parish, 277 Elliot St. Newton Upper Falls followed by interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham.

Visiting hours at Burke & Blackington Funeral Home at 1479 Washington St. West Newton on Wednesday, November 1st from 4-7PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sean's memory may be made to The American Cancer Society at Cancer.org or to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute at Dana-Farber.org
