Sean Michael McCoy

Sean Michael McCoy, 38, of Lancaster County, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022. Born in Bloomsburg, PA on May 27, 1984, he was the youngest child of Michael W. McCoy, and Debra J. (Warmkessel) Black.

Sean graduated from Benton Area Jr/Sr High School in 2002, and went on to find his niche in commercial electrical work as a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

While in high school, Sean was renowned for his kindness, athleticism, charisma, and brilliant smile. He was looked up to as a mentor by younger students. Others knew him as a great friend, always up for adventure. Those qualities carried over into his adulthood.

An avid soccer and basketball player in his youth, Sean still enjoyed the occasional pick-up game, as well as sharing his gusto for video gaming with his son, Dalen. He also found joy in bestowing personal insight and inspiration onto others. His humor and depth of character resonated with many.

On April 24, 2015, Sean married his wife, Jolene (Vonglis) McCoy. They were a dynamic duo who especially loved family fishing trips, among other outdoor activities, and low-key visits with family and friends.

Sean leaves behind his loving wife, Jolene; son, Dalen of Freeland; father, Michael of Benton; mother, Debra and stepfather, Lonny Black of Mount Joy; sister, Megan (Joshua) Rikas of Hanover; and stepsister, Jessy (Doug) Michener of Columbia. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Sean is preceded in death by his grandparents, Uncle Bill Warmkessel, and cousins Steven Depew and Cory Giberson.

A celebration of Sean's beautiful spirit and life's journey will be held on Friday, September 16th, from 4 to 6 pm at Francis Slocum State Park, where he and Jolene gave themselves to God as husband and wife, 567 Mt. Olivet Road, Wyoming, PA 18644, Pavilion 3.
