I had the pleasure of teaching sweet September in a couple of English courses at North Springs High School. September was a serious student; she was determined and focused. Her work products were always prepared wth pride and earned outstanding marks. She greeted me daily with her beautiful smile. She was gentle and compassionate to all. What a beautiful woman, wife and mother she turned out to be. I was so happy to learn that she was a teacher and know that she was a blessing in the lives of many students.

As a friend of Septembers mom,Virginia Matteson, I knew of her long and brave struggle to beat cancer and survive. She endured so much the passed 6 years with two cancer diagnoses. My thoughts and prayers for her family and friends who have all lost such a wonderful person in their lives. RIP now September, free of pain and suffering and at peace.

Mrs. Harkey (or Ms. Madison as I knew her) was an unbelievably sweet and caring person. I was a difficult student to wrangle, and, despite that, September was patient enough to see that much of my misbehavior was an outlet for my frustration. She worked extra hard with my parents to get me on the right track in Math, which was then one of my worst subjects - and I've since gone on to become a software engineer. Thank you, Ms. Madison, and Rest In Peace.

Full of grace, I'll remember September for her desire to help others, her love for her family, and her willingness to laugh at herself. The world has lost a great woman.
