I met Shady on my very first day as graduate student in McGill's Environment Option program. A sign on our classroom door said: "The seminar will be held outside. Look for a group with a man dressed business-like". And that's how I remember him, always sharp in appearance and wit, always on time and prepared, but easy-going and happy, making everyone feel comfortable around him. I fondly remember talking about our daughters, mine being only a few months older than Hannah, and the happy and proud smile on his face the day he showed us a picture of her.
My deepest condoleances to his family on this time of great sorrow.

To the wife and children, parents, and extended families of Shady,
I went to Herzliah High School with Shady, and I remember our friendship fondly. He was, to everyone in our grade, a smart, nice, happy person, liked by all. Though I have not been in contact with him since, this tragedy saddens me and you are all in my thoughts and prayers. May you find peace and be comforted by your wonderful memories.
