Shannon Leah Doyle of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the age of 54 years after a courageous lengthy battle with cancer. Born August 6, 1963 in Winnipeg, MB, Shannon grew up in Calgary, graduating from Dr. E. P. Scarlett High School. Shannon worked in the oil patch for a few years before joining the '88 Olympic Organizing Committee. After the games, Shannon worked for TELUS (AGT) before moving to Ottawa for three years where she worked with Amnesty International. Returning to Calgary in 1994, she restarted her career at TELUS. During her twenty- seven years there, she held a number of positions, each one was an opportunity to exercise her wide range of skills, especially planning and organizing – Shannon was an Event Planner Extraordinaire, in business and in her personal life! It was during this time that Shannon met some of her most treasured lifelong friends and travel companions. Her greatest accomplishments were her daughters, Hannah Carol and Sarah Elizabeth. Shannon was very grateful for the special love and support of her family and friends during this difficult journey. Shannon is survived by her loving husband, Sheldon William Blackwood; her precious daughters, Hannah Sillito and Sarah Blackwood; father Graham (Gail) Doyle; sister Marta (Cory) Prentice; brothers, Shane (Michelle) Doyle, and Darren; nephews, Brendon and Kris Kruse; mother-in-law Linda (Clayton) Hillier; sister-in-law Terri (Chris) Morrison; nephews, Matthew and Andrew; niece Vera; father-in-law Ebenezer William Blackwood; her treasured animal companions, Bella and Kadence; and many dear friends. Shannon was predeceased by her mother Carol Doyle in January 2017. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Shannon's life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
