Sharon Easley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 18 to Sep. 19, 2018.
Sharon Easley
Sharon Sue (Couch) Easley, of Fort Smith, born June 16, 1938, in Drumright, Okla., to the late Vera Mae Couch and the late Robert Couch, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the age of 80, on Sept. 15, 2018. She passed away at home surrounded by loved ones.
Sharon was the beloved wife of, and is survived by, Ronald Dean Easley; they were married for 58 years. Sharon is also survived by her son, Jeffrey Easley and wife Laura; daughters, Kelly Easley, Amy Blankenship and husband Phillip and Jill Harmon and husband Dale; sister, Cindy Jack; grandchildren, Dax Holcombe and wife Tara, Daniel Lensing, Jeffrey Easley Jr., Jeanna Easley, Weston Easley, Austin Easley, Luke Allen, Haley Sweetin and husband T.J., Phillip K. Blankenship and Angie Miller; and great-grandchildren, Harley Holcombe, Elsie Sweetin, Luke Sweetin, Gabby Avila, Hazen Lensing, Taylor Stozier and Abby Stozier.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Carol Manry and Doris McBride.
Sharon Easley graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa and attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. Shortly after her marriage to Ron, they moved to Fort Smith where they raised their four children. She was involved in various local civic organizations, including Sparks Guild.
Sharon's lifelong passion was that of an avid duplicate bridge player. She loved her weekly bridge games at Fort Smith Duplicate Bridge Club. During the '80s and '90s, Sharon enjoyed traveling around the country participating in both large and small tournaments. In 2007, she placed second in a world bridge tournament involving 12,000 players across 40 countries. Her love of bridge culminated in her earning a Gold Life Master level of achievement. She also enjoyed discovering new methods and techniques of acrylic painting and was an avid reader of books. Sharon also found time to work crossword puzzles and attend many local theater and music events. In a "just because I can" moment, at age 44, Sharon took several math courses including calculus at Westark Community College, earning all As and was accepted into the Phi Theta Kappa national honor fraternity recognizing scholarships.
Sharon "Mom" will be terribly missed by her family, but especially by Ron who calls her the rock of his life. Our comfort is that we know she is at peace with Jesus.
Friends and family members are welcome to attend the funeral service which to be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Edwards Funeral Home, 201 N. 12th St., Fort Smith, (479) 782-8203. Senior Pastor Will Harmon of Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church will officiate the service.
Pallbearers will be Dax Holcombe, Daniel Lensing, Jeff Easley, Dale Harmon, Jason Nichols and Johnny Miller.
Members of Charles Wagoner Sunday school class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
There will also be a visitation at Edwards Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sharon's name to Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church building fund. Donations can be sent to 2825 Grinnell Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72908.

And there shall be night no more; and they need no light of lamp, neither light of sun; for the Lord God shall give them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
