Sheila (Rowe) Verzone Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 30, 2023.
Sheila A (Rowe) Verzone passed on Sunday, December 18, 2022 surrounded by loving family. She was born in Waltham, Massachusetts on April 9, 1940 to Arthur and Alberta (Charbonneau) Rowe. She graduated from Waltham High School and went on to raise strong and loving children. Sheila worked for the Burlington, Massachusetts school transportation system, and after retirement created countless memories at their perfect lakeside home on Rattlesnake Island at Lake Winnipesaukee, where she and her husband Dick frequently hosted friends and family.

Later, Sheila treasured the summer months in her Danville, New Hampshire home, and winter months in her Bradenton, Florida Horseshoe Cove residence. She enjoyed being creative and expressed her talents in many mediums. She loved sewing, needle crafting, designing stained glass, and earned much respect as a one-woman show in a formerly all men's hobby woodshop, where she utilized all of the tools at her disposal in creating beautiful bowls, unique art pieces and meticulously designed musical instruments that she lovingly gifted to family members. She cherished her annual trips with her sister and daughters to Five Islands, Maine where she relished in visiting her former family homes, paying tribute to passed relatives and telling of her family history.

She and her husband Dick outdid themselves year after year by creating, and constantly reinventing, the most magical of holiday celebrations as Santa and Mrs. Claus. Sheila's creative talents shone through in every aspect of Santa's costume, beautifully decorated sleigh, and thoughtful planning and execution of an enchanting Christmas display for anyone fortunate enough to catch a glimpse.

Sheila was preceded in death by her son Brian Corcoran, her brother Joseph and sister Patricia. She is survived by her husband of over forty-seven years, Richard (Dick) Verzone, her children Rick and wife Lynette Corcoran of Melbourne Beach, FL, daughter Maura and husband Ken Price of Townsend, MA, daughter Dawn MacDonald of Lowell, MA, Rick and wife Danielle of Scituate, MA, Jeffrey and wife Sally of Lowell, MA, and son Craig and wife Cristina of Vevey, Switzerland. Additionally, Sheila will be greatly missed by her 10 grandchildren Derek Corcoran, Connor O'Brien, Shain Price, Shannon MacDonald, Kerron MacDonald, Christopher Verzone, Jacqueline Verzone, Ivo Verzone , Hugo Verzone, Sylvan Verzone, great-grandchildren Zoe and Penelope as well as several nieces and nephews.

A private family reflection and celebration of life will be held with no additional services. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sheila's name may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Jimmy Fund or the Brain Aneurysm Foundation.

Many of my childhood memories have your Mrs Verzone in them. She was one of the nicest women I have had the pleasure of knowing.

Sheila was a great lady. Her kindness, patience and compassion were just a couple of the reasons I loved her. All of my memories of time spent with her will always be very special. May she rest in eternal peace.
