Shelly Sproull Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 15, 2025.
Shelly M. Sproull (Phillips), age 62, passed away on April 10, 2025, in Pendleton, South Carolina. Born on November 17, 1962, in Freeport, Illinois, Shelly lived a life marked by compassion, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.

A proud graduate of Harlem High School in Machesney Park, Illinois, Class of 1980, Shelly carried the values of hard work and kindness into every chapter of her life. For over eight years, she served as a loyal sales associate at 7/11. More than just a job, it was a place where she built lasting friendships with co-workers and regular customers alike-people she considered part of her extended family.

Shelly shared 40 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband William Sproull. Together they raised their daughter Cassandra Kellogg and welcomed son-in-law Jay into their lives. Her greatest joy came from being "Grandma" to Collin, Harmony, Hunter, Mason, Sarah, and Sawyer. Her love for them was boundless and ever-present.

Faith played a central role in Shelly's life. She was an active member of Six and Twenty Baptist Church in South Carolina, where she led Sunday school for many years and sang joyfully in the choir. Her voice blended with those of her church family as an expression of her deep spiritual devotion.

Shelly had a heart that gave freely. She showed her love through handmade crocheted blankets-each stitch woven with care for those she cherished. A passionate reader and lover of Hallmark Christmas movies, she found comfort in simple joys and festive traditions. Her loyalty to the Green Bay Packers was legendary; win or lose, she cheered them on with unmatched enthusiasm.

She was preceded in death by her parents Orlan and Jeanette Phillips but leaves behind a legacy carried forward by those who knew and loved her. In addition to her immediate family, Shelly is remembered fondly by her closest friend Jacqueline Ledford and many other extended family members and friends whose lives were touched by her warmth.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens located at 8800 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, Illinois 61115.

A memorial service will also be held in South Carolina at a later date.

Shelly was a strong and courageous fighter who never met a stranger. She adored her community and gave generously of herself to everyone around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who were blessed to know her.
