Sherry Foster Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 10, 2025.
Reno - Sherry Scofield Foster. This angel on earth joined our Heavenly Father early morning, Sunday April 13th, peacefully and surrounded by love. She was the most beautiful woman inside and out touching the lives of everyone she met with her light, service, and grace.

Sherry was born October 18th, 1953, in Maryland before moving to Reno, NV with her family as a child. She expressed natural gifts for empathy and caretaking at an early age, leading to her education at the University of Nevada, Reno, Orvis School of Nursing, culminating in a 25-year nursing career at St. Mary's Hospital. During her career, the love and skillful care she brought to her patients led to multiple honors and awards, including the Nurse of the Year award in 1999. After a brief stint in nursing administration, she left her hospital career to pursue her ambitions as a parish nurse and Christian faith counselor at Sierra Bible Church, where she established a caretaking network of nurses and other professionals to specially care for the needs of this large, diverse, and growing church.

Sherry overcame many devastating adversities in life, learning from each one, absorbing that darkness and pain and reflecting out of it knowledge, wisdom, and a most profound loving light back onto the world in her every interaction. She spread joy, love, and her deep faith and love for our Lord, Jesus Christ throughout her entire life. In 2005, Sherry was the key-note speaker of a 3-day Women's Fall Retreat at Zephyr Cove, Lake Tahoe, titled, "Dear God Don't I Have Enough Character yet?" During this retreat she detailed her journey from the depths of darkness to the saving grace of God. She was a child of God, a gift from God to us all, the brightest light, dedicated to service and improving the lives of so many, and she will be dearly missed.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Craig Foster, and four children, James Coffey, Barbara Scofield, Greg Coffey, and Anne Christensen, in addition to eleven grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

The funeral will take place May 24th, 2025,10am at Sierra Bible Church, 3195 Everett Drive, Reno, Nevada 89503. Please join us in honoring her wonderful life.
