Shirley Elliott

Shirley Ann Elliott (née Nibblett), a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Salisbury, Maryland, on November 23, 2024. Born in April 1937 in Pittsville, Maryland, Shirley was the youngest daughter of Clarence and Janie Nibblett. She was preceded in death by her four brothers, Fred, Clarence, Earl, and Samuel, and her three sisters, Elizabeth, Connie, and Natalie.

Shirley is survived by her three devoted daughters: Melanie Marcocci and her husband Mike of Millsboro, Delaware; Janet Coutinho of Eden; and Dawn Dashiell and her husband Bruce of Salisbury. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren: Corie Davis and her husband Bryon, Jessica Simpson (one of her beloved caregivers), Todd Simpson and his wife Ashley, Anna Simpson, and Amy Simpson, as well as John Simpson of Georgia. Shirley was also blessed with seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends who were like family to her.

A nurturing spirit, Shirley was known as "Mom" to many children over the years, always keeping her door open to those in need. Her love for gardening, both indoors and outdoors, was matched only by her passion for baking, with her cherished recipes passed down through three generations. In her later years, she found joy in reading and spending time with the "Porch Five," a group of dear friends. Above all, family was the cornerstone of Shirley's life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Shirley's warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
