Shirley Opal Forsyth

October 22, 1930 - July 22, 2017

Shirley went to be with her Lord Jesus, to take up residence in the place He has prepared for her, becoming part of the great cloud of witnesses in the courts of heaven, Saturday, July 22nd. Her last days were spent in the tender care of the loving staff of the Evergreen Baptist Campus of Care in White Rock. She is survived by her devoted husband of over 67 years, Edwin (Ted) Clare Forsyth; daughters Kathryn Heather Budd (Gord) of Victoria; Shelley Lee Page of Surrey; and son Dwynn David Forsyth of Saskatoon; along with 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Shirley was born at Asquith, SK as the youngest of 10 siblings to Frederick and Esther Summach, and spent the first half of her life on the farm, first in service to her parents, farm hands and siblings, and then as partner and helper to her husband, all in the Asquith region. In 1967, after moving to Saskatoon, she joined retail sales with Sears in the china and housewares department, allowing her to pursue her passion for collecting fine china. She resumed the important role of house mom during her time in Three Hills, AB through the late 1970's and early 80's, followed by her retirement years living at Emma Lake; Langley; Penticton; Kelowna; and finally in South Surrey. An artist extraordinaire, equally as talented with paintbrush and canvas, a crochet needle, or a sewing machine. She shined with the gift of music in singing classic hymns in the Baptist church as a soloist, in duets and the choir for many years. She will be fondly remembered, missed, and loved, leaving us with the legacy of being a strong woman of faith and character, an adoring and faithful wife, and a caring mother and grandmother. An intimate service of memorial with family will be held in White Rock on July 30th, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations to Evergreen Baptist Campus of Care would be gladly received in her memory. Arrangements entrusted to Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services, Aldergrove, BC.
