Shirley Loyd Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 4, 2025.
Shirley Mae Loyd, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, in Andrews, Texas. Born on January 25, 1947, in Dekalb, Texas, Shirley's journey through life was marked by her unwavering faith, her dedication to her family, and her compassionate spirit.

Shirley spent her early years in the company of her two brothers and three sisters, where every day was filled with memorable moments. She received her education at Midland High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University. Shirley's professional life was as diverse as it was impressive; she worked as an accountant for Exxon Mobil, served the community as a social worker with MHMR, and later brought warmth and assistance to many as a front desk clerk at the Andrews Senior Center.

Shirley is survived by her daughter Tammy Cryer, granddaughter Tiffany Witte and husband Carson Jones, grandsons, Chris Witte and James Kohr, granddaughter, DezzaRae Williams and husband Johnny Williams, grandson, Justin Cryer, and granddaughter Rachel Badon and husband, Matthew Badon, along with her nine great-grandchildren, were well provided for and deeply loved.

Shirley is preceded in death by her son Thomas Lloyd; her daughter Debbie Witte; her mother Dorothy Skidmore; her father Lewis Beckwith; as well as all her siblings.

Her faith in God was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and giving her strength. She was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church in Andrews, where she found solace, community, and joy. Shirley's favorite day was the one on which she was baptized, a testament to her profound commitment to her faith.

Shirley's interests extended beyond her work and church activities. She relished the New Year's Eve family gatherings, the laughter, and the shared stories that brought everyone closer together. Trips to Ruidoso for shopping were a particular delight, as they combined her love for adventure with her impeccable taste.

Those who knew Shirley will remember her as strong, courageous, and loving-three words that encapsulate her essence. Her legacy is one of kindness, perseverance, and an unyielding love for her family. Shirley's memory will be held in the hearts of those she touched, a beacon of love and faith that will continue to inspire and guide her loved ones for generations to come.

A Memorial Service for Shirley will be held at 2pm, on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Grace Baptist Church in Andrews, Texas.

Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and condolences may be sent online to the family at acreswestfuneral.com.
