Shirley Majors Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 19, 2025.
Shirley A. Majors, 80, of Morton, died peacefully at home on Saturday, August 16, 2025, surrounded by family.

She was born on July 13, 1945, in Parsons, Tennessee to Leo and Alma (Renfroe) Miller. Shirley married James Majors on May 15, 1965 in East Peoria.

Surviving are her husband, James, of Morton, son, Brian and Diane (DeFrees) Majors of Morton, daughter, Melissa (Majors) McDaniel of Pekin; grandchildren, Brayden McDaniel of Gresham, Oregon, Mollie (McDaniel) and Michael Prahl of Pekin, Katherine Majors of Morton, Andrew Majors of East Peoria, Sarah Majors of Washington; great-grandchildren Evelyn Prahl and Elliette Prahl and one brother, Robert Miller.

Shirley loved her family and when she was first pregnant, she quit her job in banking to be a stay-at-home mom. She was a wonderful stay-at-home mom for many years for her son and daughter. When her children were older, she worked outside the home as a teller at First National Bank in Pekin. Shirley was a devout Christian and loved her church family. She attended First Assembly of God in Pekin for several decades. Shirley was a member of the Red Hat Society and loved going to the events. She loved spending time with her family and friends creating lifelong memories. Shirley loved flowers, birds, and cooking for her family.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Oasis Church in Morton with Pastor Joe Hawkins and Jim Hawkins officiating.
